How I became a permanent makeup artist
How I became a permanent makeup artist..
Today, I want to share with you a story that's deeply personal to me – my journey into the world of Permanent Makeup, a path that intertwines my lifelong love for art with the joy of empowering others.
As a child, art was my world. It was a passion that everyone around me believed would define my future. However, life's twists and turns led me down a different path initially. After graduating with a BA Hons in Art & Design, I found myself in the corporate world of London, a necessary step to clear my student debts but one that took me away from my creative roots.
Motherhood brought new joys and challenges, temporarily steering me away from a career as a media makeup artist. But the creative within me never settled. Post-divorce, while working at a bank and later managing a private medical practice, I reconnected with my artistic side through local art groups and exhibitions and was nominated to become a fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts (RSA). A period of reawakening during the pandemic prompted me to reflect on what I truly wanted – a career that married my artistic skills with a desire to make a tangible difference in people’s lives.
Enter Permanent Makeup. It seemed the perfect blend of my love for detail, colour, and personal transformation. I dove into this new world, retraining in my late 40s – a daunting yet exhilarating experience. The transition was challenging but deeply rewarding. It's more than just enhancing beauty; it's about restoring confidence and bringing joy.
Now, I'm living my dream, using my artistic talent to help others feel their best. Each client’s smile is a reminder of why I embarked on this journey. Permanent Makeup isn't just my profession; it's a passion, a way of connecting, and a path that has brought me full circle back to art.
Thank you for being a part of this journey. Here’s to embracing art in all its forms and finding beauty in every stage of life!
Beauty in Silence
It all begins with an idea.
A Gift for Mind, Body and Skin
In our fast-paced, hyper-connected world, silence has become a rare luxury. The constant hum of notifications, background chatter and daily demands can leave us feeling overstimulated and mentally drained. But what happens when we step into a space of intentional quiet? Recent research highlights the profound impact silence has on our physical and emotional well-being and this extends to the way we experience beauty treatments.
At Glow Sanctum, I offer an option that many don’t realise they need until they try it: the choice to experience your treatment in soothing silence. This isn’t about awkwardness or lack of engagement - it’s about giving yourself permission to fully relax, recharge and connect with yourself.
Why Silence Matters for Your Mind and Body
A recent article in The Guardian explored the science behind silence and its remarkable effects on the brain. Studies have shown that moments of quiet allow the nervous system to reset, lowering cortisol (the stress hormone) and promoting a deep state of relaxation. This in turn can lead to:
Reduced stress and anxiety – Silence has been found to lower blood pressure and heart rate, creating a physiological state of calm.
Enhanced mental clarity – With fewer distractions, the brain has space to process thoughts more clearly, improving focus and creativity.
Better emotional balance – Silence allows for deeper self-awareness, making it easier to tune into what your mind and body really need.
How Silence Enhances Your Beauty Treatment
When you come in for a facial, microneedling or permanent makeup treatment, the experience isn’t just about the physical transformation - it’s about how you feel during and after. While some clients enjoy chatting throughout their session, others crave a moment of stillness. Here’s why choosing silence (or soft, ambient music) can elevate your treatment:
Deeper relaxation = better results – Stress shows up in our skin, often contributing to breakouts, dullness and premature aging. By allowing your body to fully unwind, your treatment can work more effectively.
A sensory reset – Many of us live in a constant state of alertness. A silent treatment gives your brain a rare chance to switch from ‘reactive mode’ to a deeper, restorative state.
A mindful experience – Without conversation, you can fully focus on the sensations - warmth, touch, hydration or the gentle movements of a massage - creating a heightened appreciation for the experience.
Introducing the ‘Silent Treatment’ Option
Because I believe in giving my clients the most rejuvenating experience possible, I now offer a Silent Treatment option for those who wish to enjoy their session in complete tranquillity. When booking, simply let me know if you’d prefer your treatment to be done in quiet - free from conversation, with only soft music or total silence if that’s what you prefer.
This is your time, your space and your opportunity to step away from the noise of the world and immerse yourself in deep relaxation. If you’ve never tried a silent beauty treatment before, I invite you to experience the difference - it might just become your favourite way to unwind.
Would you like to try a treatment in peaceful silence? Book your appointment today and discover the power of quiet x

It all begins with an idea.
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.
Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
